Daddy Hacks with Alek Thomas

Not many families have someone who is fortunate enough to play or participate in a professional sport in some capacity, the Thomas's are in a league of their own. Not only is Alek Thomas a top prospect in the Arizona DiamondBacks system, but his Dad is the strength coach for the Chicago Whitesox. During Spring Training of 2020, Alek and the D backs squared off against Papa Thomas and the Whitesox. Most sports fans have seen the viral video of what happened next, but if not, we have it here.

Scnelly and myself played with Alek back in our high school days during some of the draft showcases we participated in. Then, me and Alek played together on Team USA where we went to Thunder Bay, Canada and beat Korea in the World Cup Championship to win a Gold medal. Naturally, we reminisced on some of those times and talked about how that level of competition prepared us for the next step in our careers. We also discussed some of the emotions we as players went through during the draft process.

Alek went on to give us some insight on some of his stops along the way in the D backs organization. He's pretty much been one of the best players in baseball since he became a pro, hitting .313, slugging almost .500, and has stolen 40 bags. Alek talks about some of the places he's enjoyed playing, some places he hasn't, and some behind the scenes details on what goes into being a minor league player.
